Last night, RuPaul’s Drag Race fans watched Denver’s “commodity of drag oddity” Yvie Oddly lipsync her way to the crown. But if her reaction to winning felt a little…um, odd, there’s a reason.
To avoid leaks, the producers film multiple outcomes, which require queens taking turns pretending to win. This awkward arrangement was enacted after Season 3 winner Raja spilled the beans about coming out on top back in 2011. Since then, contestants don’t find out who the actual winner is until they watch the finale episode when it airs (famous drag queens: they’re just like us!).
